Alcohol and chemical detoxification
The withdrawal symptoms from alcohol and drug detoxification can be harmful and should be done under the supervision of the appropriate medical personal. The term detox refers to the detoxification of the residual toxins left in the body as a result of taking drug(s) and/or alcohol. Alcohol and drug detox, from a medical prospective, is the process of medically managing the body’s physical withdrawal from alcohol or drug(s) to minimize the possible side effects and help prevent potentially harmful consequences. There are a variety of methods for the actual medical process of alcohol and drug detox. Detoxification is the beginning of the treatment process and is usually followed by additional treatment.

Although many prescriptions drugs are not addictive, certain prescription drugs - opioids, central nervous system (CNS) depressants, and stimulants - when abused, can alter the brain's activity and lead to dependence and addiction. The use these drugs when taken for no medical reason or abused when prescribe is a leading health concern. Some of the names of these drugs are oxycodone (OxyContin), propoxyphene (Darvon), hydrocodone (Vicodin), and hydromorphone (Dilaudid), as well as meperidine (Demerol)
Alcoholism is a chronic disease characterized by dependence on alcohol, repeated excessive use of alcoholic beverages, and decreased ability to function socially and vocationally. The craving that an alcoholic has for alcohol can be as strong as the need for food and after the person becomes an alcoholic the lack of alcohol in the person’s body can cause them to have withdrawal symptoms which could be physically harmful.
Heroin
Heroin is a highly addictive drug. Heroin is made from morphine, a
substance that is taken from certain varieties of poppy plants. It is
generally sold as a white or brownish powder or as the black sticky
substance known on the streets as "black tar heroin." Although the
purity of heroin on the street is increasing it is still true that most
street heroin is "cut" with other drugs or with substances such as
sugar, starch, powdered milk, or quinine. It is also with strychnine or
other poisons. Heroin abusers have no way of knowing actual strength of
the drug or its true contents, and therefore are always at the risk of
overdosing or dying. Because heroin is injected there is the added
danger of the user becoming infected with HIV.
Cocaine
There are basically two chemical forms of cocaine: The powdered form of
cocaine, which is generally sold on the street as a fine white powder.
It can be dissolves in water and injected into a vain or it can remain
in the power form and be ingested through the nose. In order to increase
their profit street dealers generally cut it other substances as baking
soda, cornstarch, talcum powder, baby laxatives, sugar, or amphetamines.
Crack
Crack is cocaine in smoke able form. It is cocaine that has been
processed using baking soda and water into rock form. This form of
cocaine got its name from the crackling sound it makes while being
smoke.
Crystal Methamphetamine, whish is also called crystal meth, is distributed in several forms and can be taken by mouth, injected, snorted or smoked. Meth is a substance that comes in a crystal-like powdered it also sometimes comes in large rock-like chunks. Some of the flakes off the rock hasa glass like appearance which causes it to be called by another name glass. The color of meth is white and can also be yellowish depending on its purity.
The most commonly used illegal drug in the United States of America is Marijuana. A dry, shredded green/brown mix of stems, leaves, seeds and flowers from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa, it is smoked as a cigarette (joint), or in a pipe (bong). It also is smoked in cigars that have been emptied of tobacco and refilled with marijuana (blunts) The main active chemical in marijuana is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
